I feel so happy to live in Australia. We are home to 500,000 different plants and animals, many of which are not found anywhere else in the world and let’s face it… are some of the cutest creatures around!
However, it can come as something of a solemn reminder, to think that over the last 200 years, over 100 of our furry, feathered and lush neighbours have become extinct. Sometimes, it can feel a bit overwhelming and it’s easy to lose focus on the amazing people and organisations who work tirelessly to slow this type of change and to protect our threatened species.
So with today (7 Sep) being Australia’s National Threatened Species Day, I thought I’d shine a light on some of the good news stories of the reversal in this decline and celebrate some of the great work that has been done in these videos.
But let’s just not celebrate what other people have done. Check with your local National Park office or other conservation organisation on how you can help.
